About the 3rd edition of Sonoderm Dermatologic Ultrasound Conference

Location

The hybrid event will take place in Bucharest at Ramada Plaza Hotel and will be transmitted live, online

Conference objectives

Conference objectives:

  • Fundamentals of ultrasound and correct handling of ultrasound devices

  • Ultrasound basic semiology, role of Doppler, elastography and CEUS in the assessment of dermatologic conditions

  • Applications of high-frequency ultrasound in dermatology and cosmetology

  • Knowledge of facial anatomy, skin layers, neurovascular structures and correlation to sonographic findings

  • Understanding the role of high-frequency ultrasound in various inflammatory, vascular and tumoral (benign and malignant) pathologies of the skin and nail organ: clinical and typical sonographic aspects

  • Monitoring of various topical and systemic therapies by means of ultrasound

  • Role of high-frequency ultrasound in the perioperative setting in dermatologic surgery

  • Applications of high frequency ultrasound in cosmetology:

o  Insights into filler injections

o   Identification of fillers under sonographic guidance

o   Avoidance of danger zones during filler injections by ultrasound guidance

o   Avoidance of neurovascular structures during thread lifting procedures

o   Identification of filler-related complications by means of ultrasound

Desired learning outcome

  • Understanding of basic ultrasound physics, principles of scanning, knoblogy, artefacts

  • Independent sonographic identification of normal anatomical structures of the head-and neck area (skin layers, neurovascular structures)

  • Lean how to perform vascular mapping to confirm the location, depth and size of arteries in the head-and-neck area

  • Imaging of normal integument, sonographic evaluation methods of inflammatory conditions of the skin and nail organ – obtaining the view of the nail organ in physiological and pathological conditions; identifying normal vs. abnormal skin structure on ultrasound

  • Understanding the role of ultrasound in benign and malignant skin tumors – obtaining the correct sonographic tumoral parameters: tumor lateral extension, tumor depth, relationship to neurovascular structures, type of vascularization, use of elastography

  • Obtain sonographic images of relevant pathologies of the integument and soft tissues

  • Choose patients where high-frequency ultrasound can improve diagnostic speed and accuracy

  • Understand the role  of preoperative ultrasound in melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer

  • Understanding and identifying danger zones of the head and neck area prior to filler injections; learn to avoid vascular complications by pre-procedural sonographic assessment of the area to inject

  • Learn to identify and characterize previously placed fillers and threads in the head and neck area and how  complications such as granulomas, abscesses, hematomas appear on ultrasound

  • Guidance of injections to dissolve hyaluronic acid fillers wrongly placed

  • Incorporation of high-frequency ultrasound in daily patient care
